Biograd National Park was established in 1952 and it is located between the rivers Tara and Lim. It occupies the central part of Bjelasica. In 1878 was protected as Prince's preserve, a gift to Prince Nicholas. Park consists of mountain elevations, streams, bays, many lakes, forests, meadows and pastures. The highest peak is Crna Glava - Black Head (2139 meters), and the famous glacial lake of Biograd is a lake located in the middle of Mt Biograd. There are many pastures, log cabins, mills and religious monuments.
