Surrounded with mountains Volujak, Maglic, Durmitor and Tara Canyon this town is situated at the north-west of Montenegro. For the current appearance of the town was crucial the construction of a dam on the river Piva from 1967 to1975. The most important cultural and historical monument is Piva Monastery that was located at the source of river Piva, but with the construction of a dam, that area was flooded, and the Monastery was transferred to Sinjac with original frescoes. Treasury of the Monastery preserves the only Psalter from Obodska printing. Church of Uspenje Presvete Bogorodice (Assumption of the Virgin Mary) was built from the 1573rd to 1586th under favour of metropolitan Savati Sokolovic. Plužine today is attractive to anglers, hikers on the Piva Lake, canyon Sušica, River Nevidio, Stabanjska lakes - Trnovacko and Štrcko and to those who like the rapids of the river Tara. Trnovacko Lake is located near the last primeval forest in Europe, and the canyon Nevidio is a challenge for climbers and lovers of waterfalls of which some are over 100m high in this canyon.
